There are a lot of oily skincare products out there that promise to improve your oily skin, but in fact, they just make it worse. If you’re like me, that is something you want to avoid whatever it takes, as our facial skin is one of our most outstanding features. And we all want to have gorgeous, soft and smooth skin, don’t we?
So how can you ensure that the skincare products you end up with actually help your skin, and make you look better than ever? It only takes a little bit of research. Educate yourself and learn what ingredients you want present in oily skincare products, and which ingredients can actually have negative effects on oily skin.
Ingredients for Oily Skin
You might think, that in order to improve your oily skin you can’t use products with oil present in them. However, this is not true. As long as it is a natural, cold pressed oil that doesn’t clog your pores, you’re safe. Some effective ingredients for oily skin are:
Babassu — A light wax which is good for both oily and dry skin, as it moisturizes without making the skin oily.
CynergyTK — This ingredient is highly effective for younger-looking, radiant skin and suitable for all skin types.
Maracuja — A fruit extract which can actually help regulate the oiliness of your skin to a normal level.
Phytessence Wakame — A sea algae which works smoothing and healing.
Ingredients to Avoid
As you learn which ingredients are bad for oily skin, you’ll be shocked to see that they are present in so many standard oily skincare products. Some of the worst ingredients are:
Alcohols — They are too harsh, and dry your skin out – which will only make it produce more oil if you suffer from oily skin. Other names to watch out for are: ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl and SD alcohol.
Mineral oil — This clogs up your pores, which can result in acne and blemishes and premature aging of your skin. Other names to watch out for are: liquid paraffin, paraffin wax and petrolatum.
Parabens — These can cause rashes and irritations in the skin and more serious problems after prolonged use. Other names to watch out for are: butyl, ethyl, propyl and methyl paraben.
